Fatherless Friday

The boy I am posting about today is set to age out this year. His name is Don Michael, he is blind, and also lives at Bethel. He has a small fund on Reece's Rainbow. Michael is very talented. As you can see from these pictures he can jump rope and play an instrument. Please pray that this boy finds a wonderful family. So many of the cute little kids are being adopted from Bethel I cannot imagine how that hurts a child's esteem and hope for a family when it seems no one will ever come for them.

Fatherless Friday

I am going back and posting this little boy because I had him on my list to post but unfortunately I had a tough weekend and was not able to post it on time.

This little boy is as adorable as Gabe. His name is Simon, he is visually impaired, and lives at Bethel. Gabe and Simon are the same age. There is not as many pictures or information about him as Gabe but all he needs is one picture to speak a thousand words about precious he is.

This kid always seems to be moving :)
I think that is why the little girl put her hand on his head in the next photo.

My favorite color is blue so even though this is not really good picture of him I could not resist because he looks good in blue.

I have been looking forward to this post all weekend. This little girl also lives at Bethel and is blind and deaf. Her best photo is also from pajama day. Is she not beautiful or what? They do not have many pictures of her but this one definitely does her justice.

Sponsor Sunday

When I posted little Arthur last week I noticed that Fredy was still waiting for a sponsor. I have seen him on the website for quite a while and he has to be approaching six months. He suffers from hearing loss. He lives with his mother and father, but he does not have any siblings. Fredy is in kindergarten and his performance is average. I pray that this boy does not have to wait to much longer for a loving and letter writing sponsor.

The second child I am posting is an little older. His beautiful dark skin and striking blue shirt caught my eye. I also like names that substitute the "j" for a "y".

NEW IDEA

I decided that I will have a monthly theme for the children I post. This month the theme will be children at Bethel. I have also decided that I will try to post two children a week. A girl on Monday and a boy on Friday. So we will have to see if I will be able to keep up with the posts.

Fatherless Friday

This week I am posting about another little boy, Greg, who lives in the same place as Gabe. He also had cancer of the eye and is currently receiving chemotherapy. Unlike Gabe he is only featured on Bethel's website and facebook.

He recently caught the chicken pox and was in the hospital because of a reaction to the virus. This boy definitely needs some prayers that this last treatment of chemotherapy will wipeout his cancer.

I am posting the picture of him that is on the website because even though it is slightly older, it is a better picture of him and the hair he will have again after the chemotherapy.

Sponsor Sunday

So the child I was planning on posting about was sponsor yesterday! He had been waiting for over five hundred days so I am very happy he has found a sponsor. However, that left me a little unprepared today.

Today I am posting an older teenager who is in the same project as one of my sponsored children.

This is Germaine. She goes by her last name because in Burkina Faso it is polite to use the person's last name.
She was also born in 1996. Germaine's family is smaller with only two other children, and her parents.

Does she not look lovely in that all white outfit, or what?

I cannot get past that look on her face. She looks hopeless. She could definitely use some prayers and a wonderful sponsor to mentor her.

This project sends regular letters from their children and often send pictures when an extra monetary gift is given.

I am also posting a young boy that reminds me a lot of my little brother. For one they are both visually impaired. Second, they are both beautifully dark with curly hair. Third, they are both seven.

Arthur lives with his mother and father and two siblings. He is average in school and enjoys running and ride bikes.

I pray that they both find a wonderful letter writing sponsor quickly.

Advocating for Orphans

I want to introduce a precious little boy to you. His English name is Gabe and his Chinese name is Gui Gui. This adorable little boy is completely blind because he had cancer of the eye. He is in a special program, which is called Bethel, for blind children and is very capable of preforming daily activities on his own. This organization has a blog and a facebook page that they update regularly. They do a wonderful job taking pictures and videos of their children.

The website has many pictures of their blind children doing everyday activities such as swimming, running and riding bikes. It is almost unbelievable what some of these kids are cable of, especially for me because my little brother is blind but he is also mentally handicapped. Sadly, my brother is not cable of any of those activities, but I am amazed at what these kids can do.

Pictures of Gabe can be found on Bethel’s blog, facebook page, Reece’s Rainbow, and on No Hands but Ours. Personally, I love the picture of him on No Hands But Ours in a big fluffy robe on Pajama Day.

On Reece's Rainbow they allow you to choose a child to advocate for. I sent an e-mail last week and I am officially his advocate on Reece's Rainbow.

Sponsor Sunday

Every Sunday I plan to post about a child who is waiting for a sponsor on the Compassion International website.

I will search for a child who is older, stands out to me, or has been waiting a long time for a sponsor. There are some children who wait over a year for someone to choose them, which is a long time for a young child to wait, and they often begin to lose hope that anyone will ever pick them. Older children are sometimes passed over for the cute little kids and there are usually more boys than girls on the website, so that is why I have chosen an older boy for todays post. I want to help end a child’s wait, even if all I can do is pray.

I do not know what exactly about him caught my eye but something did. His birthday is August 15, 1996, and he is only a month younger that me. He lives with his mother and father, but he does not have any siblings. For fun, he likes to swim, ride his bike, and play soccer. He is above average in school and attends church regularly. Sounds like he is doing Hard Things too.

Trying this again

So I have been reading Do Hard Things with my mentor and I have to say it has been one of the most impactful books I have ever read. One of the Hard Things I decided I wanted to do was dust off my blog. Having a blog is truly a great way to promote and share what you are for? I am for Jesus and He has done some incredible stuff in my life. I want to share that with you. What God allows us to go through is meant to be a testimony.

To start with, I will set a goal of how often to blog and I will go from there. First, I will finish posting about my mission trip to the Dominican Republic. Second, every Sunday I will post about a child who needs a sponsor (From either Compassion International or World Vision). Third, I will post about orphans both state side and internationally. Also, occasionally I will post about my own Compassion children.

I want to be honest. I am not a writer at all. My posts will hardly ever be long. It has only been through my passion for sponsoring that I no longer dread writing. So here I am trying this whole blogging thing again.
