Dominican Republic

So reality of the trip is starting to set in. I am starting to fundraise and will hopefully have a donation button up soon. I am excited about the trip but the fee of 10,500 is just a little daunting. Please pray that I raise enough money to not only pay the fee but also my flights and be able to keep paying for my Compassion children while I am away.

One way I plan to fundraise is through my etsy shop. I hope to put some merchandise back up in my shop to sell because right now my it is empty. I will come back and post the link when I do that. :)

Fatherless Friday

Today I am posting a young man who I seen on Reese's Rainbow for years. His name is Parker and he has two conditions. The first is a secondary cardiopathy and he is moderately cognitively delayed.

Look at his big brown eyes. Please pray that his long awaited family will find him soon.

I also want to post another young man, whose name is David.

He has an updated bio and a description from somebody who met him. Here is what they said.

Update March 2014:
This kid is AWESOME!!!! He seriously has no business in a level III/IV institution. His CP is so mild- he walked around, did all kinds of stuff. He’s smart and funny, he and my translator talked for about 15 minutes and she said he is a “very normal child and good at conversation.” He was very “appropriate”- I don’t know another way to say it- he was quiet and looked at us like “who are these strangers?” and looked to the nannies for approval, and only then spoke to us. My English (and butchered attempts at Russian) made him start to grin but he quickly got it under control and didn’t outright laugh at me (which makes him more polite than the majority of folks lol!) and he was very respectful. I LOVE this kid- he needs a family immediately- someone to get him in school and get some botox in that left leg and get those legs stretched so he can walk easier. He would be an awesome addition to a family!

Please pray that David will find his family soon.

Motherless Monday

This month I will be posting children who seem to go unnoticed on Reece's Rainbow.

The first child I will post this month are two girls who have been on my heart for a while. They are from same orphanage. The first girl is Angela

Angela June 2013
Angela
She was born in February of 2001.
Her Diagnosis:  severe grade of the mental delay, hydrocephalus, fibrosis of hyaloid, secondary glaucoma, exfoliation/detachment of retina, congenital defect of the heart partition

Angela is very small for her age.  She needs a family soon!

Update from June 2013:
She is so sweet. She is blind, but follows with her head your voice and she smiles very big when you talk to her! She has such potential but is in a bed!!

She reminds me of my brother and I want her to feel the love of a family like he does.

The second girl is Lorelie.

Lorelie
She was born in Dec of 2008
Her diagnosis is Mental delays, Cerebral Palsy, development delay. Atrophy of eye nerve. Cardiopathy.

From someone who met her in June 2013:
She was one of my absolute favorite kids I met! She is just the sweetest thing. She is diagnosed with MR not sure she really is. She was giggling and introduced herself by saying her name. She has a huge smile! She has a special nanny that does PT with her. She was bed bound when I met her but she came from a very good orphanage before she was transferred here. She needs out now!!

Please pray that these beautiful and delicate little girls find their forever family soon.
